Discover What Makes Thomas Telford Corpach Marina Ltd Special
Thank you for your interest in getting involved with Thomas Telford Corpach Marina (TTCM). Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or have never set foot on a boat, you’re very welcome here. No prior knowledge of marinas or sailing is needed — just enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to be part of something positive for the community.
Friends of Corpach Marina
Not everyone wants to sit on a board — and that’s absolutely fine.
Our Friends of Corpach Marina group is for people who’d like to get involved in a more flexible, hands-on way. Friends help organise community events, support “come and try” days, and connect with local schools, clubs, businesses and individuals. It’s about building energy around the marina and making sure it remains a vibrant, welcoming place for everyone.
How We’re Structured
TTCM is a company limited by shares, wholly owned by Caol Regeneration Company Ltd (CRC).
Crown Estate Scotland currently owns the floating infrastructure — including pontoons and moorings — until its investment is repaid. After that, these assets will transfer into CRC ownership.
TTCM leases and operates the entire marina facility at Corpach from CRC, which constructed and owns the core asset.
The marina officially opened in April 2023, marked by a royal visit from Princess Anne — a proud milestone for the whole community.
A Marina With Purpose
TTCM operates:
- A high-quality, fully serviced marina
- A public slipway
- A welcoming community café
We are committed to social, environmental and financial sustainability. Accessible to all, the marina is an important community hub and a key part of Outdoor Capital of the UK. It is also the only fully serviced, year-round marina between Oban and Inverness.
Our success supports:
- Local businesses and employment
- Health and wellbeing through outdoor recreation
- Environmental responsibility, including alignment with the The Green Blue initiative
Any profits generated — after maintaining and reinvesting in the marina — are returned to CRC to support wider charitable community benefit.
A Company in Transition
For more than a decade, the directors of TTCM — alongside professional advisers and stakeholders — worked tirelessly to secure funding, permissions, leases and contracts to bring the marina to life. It demanded resilience, patience and determination.
That intensive development phase is now complete.
Our focus has shifted from building the marina to operating it successfully. This means delivering excellent service, strengthening community engagement, marketing effectively, and maintaining strong financial oversight.
Strengthening the Board
With this new operational focus comes the need for fresh skills and perspectives. Some long-serving directors are stepping back after years of dedicated service, creating space for new voices.
We are seeking board members (or observers) who share our commitment to community benefit and are willing to take a practical, hands-on role in shaping the marina’s future.
We would particularly welcome representation or experience connected to:
- The Highland Council
- Caol and Kilmallie Community Council
- Outdoor Capital of the UK
- Recreational boating and yachting
- Education (primary through higher education)
- Hospitality and tourism
- Marine engineering and boat maintenance
- Accessible sea sports
This is not an exhaustive list — just a starting point for ideas.
New Ways of Working
During the development phase, the board met monthly to manage the project’s many moving parts. Now, with professional staff in place, meetings are held quarterly and focus on strategic oversight, performance and future development.
Looking Ahead
Thomas Telford Corpach Marina has come a long way. After navigating the challenges of planning and construction, we now have a superb asset ready to play a central role in community life.
The next chapter is about growth, inclusion and impact — and there’s space for you to be part of it, contact us if you have any questions or are interested in getting involved.
