Caol and Camaghael Loop Walk from the Marina
This walk takes you along the shorefront at Caol, then up banks of the Lochy River passing old Inverlochy Castle, and then along the peaceful road to Camaghael before reaching Neptune’s Staircase and then walking down the Caledonian Canal to the marina. It is 8.3km and flat and mostly on pavement, tarred road.
- Leave Corpach Marina, cross the railway and immediately turn left, follow the road round, at a small junction turn left and continue following this small road until it joins the main road (A830), turn left and follow the footpath.
- Continue along the footpath at the side of the main road until you reach the entrance to a small industrial estate (signs for Corpach Harbour / Slipway Autos), cross the road and enter the wooded area, and follow the footpath around the edge of the wood, this will slowly climb up the hill, when you reach a small road, cross over the road and continue along the footpath.
- You will then reach the cemetery, turn left and follow the edge of the cemetery (which will be on your right hand side), this will continue up the hill. At the highest point on the walk there is a bench and spectacular view of Loch Linnhe and Ben Nevis.
- Continue along the path until it reaches the housing at the top of Corpach. Turn right onto the road and at the next junction turn left, go downhill along the road and just after the sweeping left hand bend take the road off to the left. You will see a path off to the right going downhill and alongside the play park, at the play park turn left and go through the cemetery. This will join a small road where you turn right and continue down the hill to the main road (A830).
- Turn left and walk along the pavement at the side of the road, just after the CoOp cross the road at the pedestrian crossing and take the road down to Corpach Marina.
